GROUPS

Groups are how we make a big church smaller.

"We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us." - 1 John 3:23

ABOUT GROUPS

Life is better together!
Life gets messy and complicated; we get stuck and struggle to move forward. Groups are designed to help people find a way out and up. They are where you go to connect with other people and develop authentic relationships. In a group you can dig deep into God’s Word and wrestle with how to apply it to your everyday life.

Groups really are the optimal place for you to become more like Christ, to be and to become all that God has promised, and purposed for your life!

Want to find a group that is right for you?

Community Groups

Community Groups are the ultimate “landing spot” for lasting impact and change. With seven different types of Community Groups to choose from, you can decide what fits best for you!

Each group is typically made up of 8-12 people and meets regularly throughout the ministry year (Sept. – May). Time is devoted to fellowship, study, prayer and discussion focused on the application of God’s Word to our daily lives. Many small groups follow the DIG DEEP discussion questions that are based off the central truths of the weekend’s sermon. Discussion facilitated by group leaders is both real and relevant to the unique make-up of each group. Groups launch the week of Sept. 8, but groups are starting all the time and you can join whenever you’re ready.

WOMEN

Something good happens when women get together! Each group and event for is specifically intended to help equip and encourage you in your walk with Christ. You can choose to sign up for a large study that breaks into smaller groups to discuss and apply the lesson, provide mutual support and pray. Or let us know you are interested in one of the many other small groups meeting throughout the week, and we’ll help you get connected.

Register now for the following group studies that kick-off the week of January 6th:

Slow Prayer: Looking at the Psalms through the Life of David

Sundays. 6:30-8:30pm | Jan 19 - May 10
How do we pray when life feels like "ground hog day", when we're stuck in seemingly untenable situations? In this study, we'll look up close at David's life -- his ups and downs in his own wilderness, through the lens of his story, paired with the Psalms he wrote. Then, these Psalms, we'll use as a template for our own wilderness guide.

Silence, God Working: Studies in the Last of the Minor Prophets - by Alice Poyner

Mondays 7:00-9:00pm | Jan. 6 - May 18

Throughout these five books one theme is repeated. The words vary but the intent is the same -- Be silent, because God is at work! Wait in hushed expectancy to see what He is going to do. It’s a message more relevant for our day than ever before. In fact, we desperately need the major impact of these minor prophets! Come with Bible open and heart attuned. And as you go, tread softly; you will encounter God at work!

Jonah: Navigating a Life Interrupted - by Priscilla Shirer

Tuesdays 9:30-11:00am | Jan. 7 - May 12

What do we do when God interrupts our lives? Many times, like Jonah, we run! Priscilla redefines interruption and shows that interruption is actually God's invitation to do something beyond our wildest dreams. When Jonah was willing to allow God to interrupt his life, the result was revival in an entire city.

Steadfast Love: A Study of Psalm 107 - by Lauren Chandler

Tuesdays 9:30-11:00am | Jan. 7 - May 12

In Steadfast Love: A Study of Psalm 107 readers will participate in a revitalizing 7-week Bible study. They will learn how to face both the storms and deserts of life with courage and trust in Jesus, and discover how tests in our journeys of faith reveal the true condition of our hearts. There are times when worship overflows effortlessly from a heart full of gratitude and praise, and there are times when God seems far and we feel we have nothing to offer. Through it all, God shows us his steadfast love.

Respectable Sins: Confronting the Sins We Tolerate - by Jerry Bridges

Wednesdays 9:30-11:00am | Jan. 8 - May 13

Have we become so preoccupied with the major sins of our society that we have lost sight of our need to deal with our own more subtle sins. Join us as we look to the transforming grace of God as a means to overcome our subtle sin.

Continuation of Precepts: Joshua - Conquering Your Enemies

Fridays 9:30-11:00am | Jan. 17 - Feb. 28

God said, "Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed." Increase your faith in God who has put you in His grip and will never let you go! This study will charge you up and encourage you to press on!

Precepts: Judges - Driving Out Your Enemies

Fridays 9:30-11:00am | March 6 - May 15

Nothing has changed from the days of the Judges - people still do what is right in their own eyes. Absolutes are shoved aside and the result is bondage to sin. Only God's truths and moral principles bring peace and freedom from bondage.

David: Seeking a Heart Like His - by Beth Moore

Fridays 10:00am-12:00pm | Jan. 17 - May 15

Explore David's life. Some days you'll want to be just like him; other days you won't want to be anything like him. Discover the truth that God will never give up on you.

We have a new community group meeting day in the new year! We will be meeting in homes on Tuesdays nights.

The Bible teaches that life-change happens best in the context of relationships and Community Groups play a vital role in helping us grow in our spiritual walk. In community we are known, loved, cared for, pursued, encouraged, and challenged to be more like Christ.

Large Group Hangout | Feb 4, March 3, and April 7 | 7-9 pm

Every first Tuesday of the month we will be meeting at Covenant Church for our large gatherings. There will be no community groups on those nights. We will all be together to celebrate the good news of Jesus, learn from the Bible, worship in song, and seek to impact the world around us. We can’t wait to see you there!

MEN

What does a real man, a godly man, look like in today’s world? Men’s groups are not only designed to answer that question, but to challenge men in their pursuit of that call. We need other men in our lives to shape and sharpen us. Fill out the group request form and we’ll help you get connected to one of the men’s small groups meeting throughout the week.

Men’s Breakfasts are designed to help every man at Covenant discover and deepen relationships with other men. Along with great food, there will be large group ‘teaching’, a personal testimony, and an invitation to learn more about men’s small groups and other activities you can get plugged into. We are also planning a mini-retreat for this spring!

Baptism at Covenant

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward commitment to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Covenant believes that baptism is for anyone who is a follower of Christ and his/her children. It is an opportunity to proclaim Jesus publicly! It is a step of obedience in response to a command - a way for us to identify with Christ and His church. It is an awesome celebration of all God has done for us through His death and resurrection!

If you would like to learn more about baptism, you are encouraged to attend one of these Core Classes. The class is preparation and a prerequisite for anyone planning to be baptized at Covenant. There is a class offered for teens and adults and another for those with an infant or young child. Please register for either class on-line. Lunch and childcare provided.
